If you want to build a house, you have to meet several legal requirements first. This includes getting a license before you start the construction work. Getting a license is very important during construction. However, some people may opt not to get one. This may still work, but if you do so, you will face some consequences. Obtaining a license is essential because it will make your contractor honest. Also, inspections will be done to make sure that the house is built to standard. Thus, before you start any construction project, follow the steps below to apply for the City of Amarillo Building Permits.

Before you apply for anything, it is always wise to ensure that you know all the requirements. This makes work easier because you will have a checklist. Also, it will be hard for you to miss anything because you will have known all the needed documents before making the application.

Once you have ensured that you have all the necessary documentation for the application, you can make the application. The customer service representative will accept the application together with all the required paperwork. The application will then be entered into the database. After this, you will wait for a few weeks for the permit to be reviewed and approved before you can begin your construction work.

When your application is received, it will be reviewed before being approved. This takes approximately five to twenty-one days depending on the complexity of the project. All the departments that are involved in approving the plan will review it before providing their feedback. The plan should thus meet the city codes and the ordinances for it to be approved.

After a few weeks depending on the type of your plan, the plan reviewer will send you feedback after the review has been completed. The inspector will list all the things you have to look into before the license is issued. In case your plan has been approved with no corrections, you will go to the next step.

In case your application has not been approved because you have to make a few corrections, it is wise to do the corrections as soon as possible. This is because the longer you take to resolve the issues, the longer the approval will take. Also, the approval will be invalid after one hundred and eighty days.

The Department will notify you once your application has been approved. After that, you will be required to submit some fees so that you can be allowed to pick your license. The license should be picked between Monday and Friday from eight am to five pm.

After that, you have to ensure that inspections have been done and approved. For the inspections to take place, the license number is required by the inspector. After the final inspection has been done and approved, the Community Development Department will start processing the paperwork to close the warranty.
